TaterOps Privacy Policy
Effective 7 October 2026 · applies to the TaterOps Android app (com.taterops.app)
TaterOps is a game-prop app for foam blaster, airsoft and paintball games. It runs entirely on your phone. We do not collect, store, sell or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no servers.
Data stored on your phone
The app saves its settings on your device only: sound, voice, brightness and other preferences, your organiser PIN (stored as a one-way hash), a randomly generated device ID used to link phones, the point name, and the list of phones you have paired. This data never leaves your phone except as described under LINK below, and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
LINK — connecting nearby phones
The optional LINK feature connects TaterOps phones to each other using Google Play services Nearby Connections, over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, without the internet. Linked phones exchange only game messages: game setup, game state and timers, the point name, the random device ID and battery percentage. These messages go directly between nearby phones and are not sent to us or to any server.
Nearby Connections is provided by Google as part of Google Play services; Google's own privacy policy applies to Google Play services.
Permissions and why they are needed
- Nearby devices, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi state — to find and connect to other TaterOps phones for LINK. Only requested when you turn LINK on.
- Location — Android requires location permission for Bluetooth/Wi-Fi discovery of nearby devices. TaterOps does not read, store or share your location.
- Vibration — haptic feedback during games.
The app also uses the motion sensor (for the Precious Cargo and motion-sensitive bomb game modes) and the camera flash as a torch (explosion effect). It does not use the camera to take photos or video, and it does not use the microphone.
Children
TaterOps is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.
